Thank You Community Shores Bank!

As part of the adopt a classroom program that is helping Rocket City, our classroom was adopted by Community Shores Bank! We cannot thank them enough and are so grateful for their support to our classroom, school and Rocket City! On Thursday, Jamie Sheffer from Community Shores Bank made a trip to our classroom so we could present her with a thank-you book we created! The kids were able to meet her and ask her a few questions! Thank you again Community Shores bank for your continuous support to the students of Rocket City!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I was so sad to hear that we had a snow day today, but I was glad everyone was kept safe! Since we did not get to have our Christmas party today, we will do a small celebration on Monday, January 6th when we return after break! We will still make our pine cone bird feeders, but will do it throughout the day!

Thank you to everyone who has donated items to our class and who planned to send in treats. I really appreciate it!

I want to finally wish all of you and your families an absolute wonderful and safe break. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Be sure to take some time each day (at least 20 minutes) to have your child read (and retell)!!

Library Tomorrow!

Good Evening 1st Grade Families!

A few reminders!

1. We have library tomorrow! Please help your child to remember to bring his/her library book back tomorrow if they brought it home!

2. We will be having our classroom Christmas party on Friday afternoon around 2:45. If you would like to come in, please come around 2:45. Please make sure to sign in at the office first!

3. I did not send Home Fun home ttoday since we will not be in school next week! We will start up again after break!

T-shirt and Sweatshirt Orders

T-shirt and sweatshirt orders are due tomorrow! If you would like to place an order, please make sure to send the form in tomorrow with the money!

Also, PLEASE make sure your child is dressed for the weather. We go out twice a day unless it is below zero degrees. Boots, snow pants, coats, a hat and mittens of some sort help keep your child warm! 

Book Orders!

December book orders are due tomorrow! I want to make sure to place the order in time for us to hopefully get them before Christmas break!

Thank you to everyone who I was able to speak with during conferences! I love being able to share all the great things your student is doing in 1st grade and cannot wait to see their growth during the remainder of the year!

Conference Week!

I hope that your families had a nice Thanksgiving weekend! 

We have conferences this week! Tuesday from 5-8pm and Thursday 12:45-3:45 and 5-8pm. Please bring any questions or concerns you may have! I look forward to seeing each of you! Please make sure to send your conference slip in if you have not done so yet!

Friday morning we will be going to the Children's Theatre Christmas Play at the High School. Thank you to everyone who donated $2 to cover the cost of the bus. If you would still like to donate $2, please send it in this week!

Report Cards!

Good evening 1st Grade families!

Report cards went home today! Please make sure to look over them with your child and bring any questions and/or concerns to conferences with you next week! I look forward to meeting with everyone!

Short Week

We have a short week this week! We will have school on Monday and Tuesday only!

We will not have home fun this week! Enjoy your time with family and read some books!

Here are a few reminders for this week!

Monday- Home Fun Packets are due back!
Wednesday- We have library! Make sure you bring your books back if you brought them home!
Friday- Pajama Day! Wear your pajamas and bring your favorite stuffed animal today! 1/2 day of School. Please make sure you child knows this and knows where they will be going at the end of the day! We will dismiss at 12:00 so teachers can finish report cards.

Thank you to everyone who came to our Halloween party today and to those who donated snacks and drinks! We greatly appreciate it and it was so great to see how much fun the kids were having! I hope everyone has a safe rest of Halloween!

Tomorrow is our Halloween party/parade! Please send your child's costume with them to school and they will change after last recess. The school parade will begin at 3:00 in the kindergarten rooms! I am looking forward to a day full of fun! :)

Halloween Party!

Our Halloween Party/Parade will be on Thursday, October 31st at 3:00. Your child should bring their costume in their backpack that day and will then change into it after last recess. We will begin our party at 3:00 and then join the school costume parade as it enters our classroom! Scholastic Book Orders

Our October Scholastic Book Order is due on Friday! There are some great books for the season! :) 

No school tomorrow, Tuesday, October 1st. Teachers will be in professional development all day. See you Wednesday! Don't forget your library books!

Don't forget to bring your library book back to school tomorrow to return! 

I sent home the first list of sight words today! We will be practicing these in class, but it would be very beneficial to your child and his/her learning for you to take the time on a regular basis to practice them at home!

Friday was a great day at Mighty McMillan! The children were able to choose 2 new books to take home as part of the RIF program and then we had a special guest reader at the end of the day! Mr. Beckeman, the high school principal, came in and read two great books to the kids! They seemed to really enjoy it! We can't wait to have him visit again in the spring!

We had our first visit of the year to the library today! The kids were able to choose one book to bring back to the classroom. They will return it next Wednesday when we go back! They did a wonderful job being STAR students in the library!

We survived a hot day in the classroom today! I could not be more proud of the effort and hard work the kids are putting towards their learning and being a STAR student. 

Please remember to send a snack with your child for morning break! Something quick, easy and healthy works best.

Wow! What an amazing first day we had! It was so great to meet everyone and start to get to know each student!

We spent a large portion of our day today learning and reviewing different procedures and ways to ensure we are showing STAR student behavior! Have your child tell you some of the things they learned today! We will continue learning and working on these procedures for the next couple of weeks!

I hope all the kiddos had a fantastic first day back! I know I did! I can't wait to greet their smiles tomorrow morning! :)

Welcome to 1st Grade! I am so excited to spend the year learning and growing with your child! We are going to have a year full of exciting opportunities and experiences that I cannot wait to share with everyone!
