Another Snow Day!

I am not sure about you, but I am ready to get back to school! I miss seeing all the kid's smiling faces each day!

I hope that you are spending time reading on your days off. Remember there is no Snow Day from reading! 23 minutes EVERY day is an expectation! :)

I have not placed January book orders yet, but plan to do so tomorrow afternoon. If you still would like to place an order, please send in your order form and money tomorrow with your child.

Also, we have library tomorrow! Don't forget those library books at home! We want those 50 extra beads!!

Have a great day and I look forward to seeing the kiddos tomorrow! We will be jumping right back into the curriculum as we have a lot to catch up on!! Have your learning caps on!

Reminders!

Good Evening!

I hope everyone is staying warm. The kids and I had a chance to get outside for recess this afternoon and I will tell you, it was WONDERFUL feeling that sun! I think it was much needed for the kids too!

Just a few reminders!
1. Scholastic Book Orders are due tomorrow! I will be placing the order this weekend! Again, this is a great opportunity to build a home library with great books!

2. There is a popcorn sale tomorrow! Bring your quarters!

3. Book bags should be coming home each night with a new book! Please help remind your child to bring their book bag back to school each day so they can choose a new book! 23 Minutes of reading each night is a must!

Stay warm and have a fantastic night!

No School Tomorrow

We will not have school tomorrow in honor of Martin Luther King Day! Please take a minute to talk with your child about why we honor him on this day. We had a wonderful discussion on Friday after viewing a few books.

Make sure you are continuing to read 23 minutes each night! More would be even better! Please help remind your child that they should also be retelling each book in as great of detail as they can when they are done. This will help them tremendously as a reader.

We have library on Wednesday. Remind your child to return their books that they brought home so we can get 50 extra beads. :)

Have a wonderful day off! Go outside and get some fresh air and don't forget to read, read, read!

Wow!

Well, we finally made it back to school after nearly three weeks off. I was SO excited to see the kiddos on Wednesday and talk to them about their break! It sounds like they had some wonderful time away from school.

We dove right into curriculum this week as we have a lot to learn! The kids did a wonderful job of reviewing procedures we have not just in the classroom, but also in school and beyond! We are smoothly getting right back into the routines we were in before break!

We will be starting home book bags on Monday. If your child's contract was sent back, they will be bringing a book and reading log home each night to complete! Remember to have your child read for at least 23 minutes each night! They can read the book they bring home, their library books, their RIF books, books they have at home or practice sight words to get their 23 minutes! On a side note, ask you child what the number 23 means! We finally found out this week! :)

I hope you have a great weekend and I look forward to starting Monday with the kids! Remember that Friday is a half day as the teachers will be in professional development meetings! As always, if you have ANY questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Welcome back!

Good evening 1st grade families!

I am so excited to see the kids tomorrow! It has been such a long break! I hope they are ready to return also!

We will be having library tomorrow so please make sure to bring your library books back that you took home over Christmas break! I know many went home!

Also, we will not be having a "Christmas party", but will still make our pine cone bird feeders. There will be lots coming home tomorrow so please make sure to empty backpacks!

Remember to bring your warm winter clothes incase we get outside tomorrow! It would be a good idea to dress warmly for inside also! It tends to be a little colder in the rooms after long breaks! :)

I hope you are all staying safe and warm. See the kiddos tomorrow!
